JUST IN: Group issues 48-hour deadline to FG over detained teenagers

Following the collapse of malnourished teenagers at the Federal High Court, Abuja, a group identified as Arewa Twiter Connect have given the Federal Government 48 hours, expiring on Monday, to release the detained teenagers.

TopNaija NG earlier reports that some teenagers before a Federal High Court for arraignment collapsed few minutes after the commencement of proceedings. They were alleged to have participated in the last #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano State, during which they allegedly chanted anti-government slogans, called for unlawful change of government through military intervention and carried foreign flags.

According to one of the defence lawyers, Marshall Abubakar, the defendants were charged in two batches of 76 and 43.

Shortly after the first batch was called, the defendants were mounting the dock when some of them suddenly fell down, causing confusion in court, a development that prompted the judge to suspend proceedings.

Reacting, Arewa Twiter Connect called on the Tinubu-led federal government to release the detained teenagers or face a mass peaceful protest again.

“We give the Government and the judiciary 48hours to release this children and provide them with food, shelter & medical care or we shall come out in mass for a peaceful protest!!!” Arewa tweeted.
