Iyabo Ojo threatens fire and brimstone over witch-hunt

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has raised allegations of being targeted by the Lagos State Government, claiming that the increase in her tax revenue is an act of witch-hunting. She believes that the motive behind this action is her public support for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

During an Instagram live session with her fans, Iyabo Ojo presented evidence of her tax payments while expressing her concerns. According to the actress, a close friend had informed her about the exorbitant tax, suggesting that it was a consequence of her endorsement of Peter Obi during the previous presidential election.

Emphasizing her right to support any political candidate, Iyabo Ojo reaffirmed her stance and stated that her support was not driven by “stomach infrastructure,” in contrast to some of her colleagues. She alleged that during the election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had gathered certain Nollywood stars at a specific location and instructed them to boycott her events.

Furthermore, Iyabo Ojo revealed her intention to reveal the names of her colleagues involved in the boycott at an appropriate time, promising to bring their actions to light.

In her words,

“As an influencer and actress, how do they come up with these outrageous amounts? I’m not saying I won’t pay, but the amount is too much. Someone very close to me told me that he heard about the increase in tax two weeks ago because he is within the caucus, and it’s because you support Peter Obi, and I don’t care.”

She continued,

“I will support whoever I want to support because it is my right to do so. I’m not fighting anybody, and I don’t have issues with anybody. When I said I have empathy for my country and not for stomach infrastructure, I know what I’m saying, and I said that because I have heard a lot of rubbish from some of my so-called colleagues, who they camped in one place to do an election and they came up with the decision that they should boycott me and not come for my events.”

While she refrained from disclosing names at the moment, Iyabo Ojo asserted that there would come a time when she would expose her colleagues or give them the publicity they apparently sought. In response to claims that she evades taxes, the actress invited individuals to visit her office and inspect her receipts as evidence of her compliance.

These allegations by Iyabo Ojo highlight the intricacies and tensions within the entertainment industry, where personal political affiliations can sometimes impact professional relationships. As the situation unfolds, many await further details and potential clarifications from both the actress and the concerned parties involved.
