Is Bruno Fernandes really leaving? -- Rashford causes online stir

Manchester United fans have been sent into a frenzy following a seemingly innocent social media exchange between Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.

On Wednesday night, United secured a crucial 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford, with goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, and Rasmus Hojlund. The win positions United level on points with Newcastle as they head into the final weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season, intensifying their push for European qualification.

The match was particularly significant for Rashford, who celebrated his 400th appearance for his boyhood club. The 26-year-old marked the milestone on social media, writing:

“It’s a special feeling to say that I have played 400 times for United. Thank you.”

Teammate and club captain Bruno Fernandes responded with an encouraging comment: “400 more to come.” Rashford’s reply, however, caused a stir among the fanbase: “@brunofernandes8 it’s been a pleasure sharing the pitch with you bro.”

Fans quickly took to social media to express their concerns. One fan commented, “That sounds like a goodbye,” while another tweeted, “Makes it sound like Bruno is leaving.” Additional reactions included, “Please don’t sell Bruno for any price,” and “Eh, is Bruno leaving…”

Amid the speculation, some fans attempted to calm the situation. One supporter reassured others by stating, “He’s just saying he’s enjoyed playing a lot of the 400 games with him, everyone calm down.” Another echoed the sentiment, adding, “Bruno isn’t going anywhere. Rashford is just saying he enjoys playing with him.”

The anxiety among fans was further fueled by recent reports linking Fernandes with a move away from Old Trafford.

According to The Telegraph, Fernandes is one of four major Premier League players being targeted by clubs in the Saudi Professional League. Notably, Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo is rumored to have urged his current club, Al Nassr, to sign Fernandes.
