“I wouldn’t start him against Chelsea” — Danny Murphy
The Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea are only days or specifically hours away and with the Merseyside Reds dealing with their own problems ahead of the fixture, the West-London Blues may fancy something out from this game.
For former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy, he sees things differently as he considers his former side slight favorites heading into the Sunday hostilities.
However, the ex-Liverpool midfielder advises the manager to weigh in his team selection before the Wembley affair rather than risk anything as a result of fear or playing things safe against Chelsea.
According to Murphy, Chelsea are tactically the ones who will be going into the game fearful and cautious which should give Jurgen Klopp an edge in determining who starts and who comes off the bench in the final.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Murphy shared his thoughts on the pivotal match, stating,
“Sunday is a big game for obvious reasons. Hopefully, either Mohamed Salah or Darwin Nunez will be back to join Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz. I think Robertson will come back in.”
Murphy emphasized Klopp’s decision-making, particularly regarding the right-back position, suggesting,
“I think he [Klopp] will have to make a decision on Gomez at right-back or if he sticks with Conor Bradley in there. I’d play the young lad. Go after Chelsea, they are more in fear of you than you are of them; he was just Man of the Match against Chelsea; let him go again.”
