I Deserve More Game Time—Harry Maguire Opens Up
While Cristiano Ronaldo is picking out his critics one by one and blanking them, one man who has sat under the microscope and seen every ounce of his image critiqued by all without a response, is Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire.
The out of favor centre-back at Manchester United has seen far more criticisms than anyone in the United team that most of his social media posts have become memes of sorts for fans trolling at the Englishman with laughing reactions.
For Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United though, he has reiterated amidst the criticisms on him that he still wants to play every week for the team.
Under Man United manager Erik ten Hag, Maguire has had difficulty getting regular playing time thus far this year.
Maguire promised to push his way back into Ten Hag’s starting XI at Manchester United during a press conference before England’s World Cup match against the USA on Friday night.
“I have great belief in myself. When I go on the training pitch, I work as hard as possible and that gives you good preparation to perform to the best level,” Maguire said.
“I want to be playing every week for my club, so I am going to fight to get back into the team, but I feel fresh and I knew the World Cup was coming up, so I put in the extra shifts.”
The World cup would certainly provide the former Leicester City centre-back a rare chance to impress and eventually win back his starting spot in Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag’s team, or perhaps earn him potential suitors in the transfer market.
