How much Mourinho makes from getting sacked

For some, it is a heartbreaking thing to get sacked, but for football managers, it can be rewarding if not relieving.

Amongst everything that can be considered inevitable in life, it no longer would be considered shocking if Jose Mourinho receiving the sack in the 3rd year of his employment at a new club is added to the list.

In over 2-decades of being a football manager, the Portuguese has seen himself receive infamy status of being the one manager that has received the most sack from his employers.

However, unlike every other job available out there, the former Chelsea boss makes more from getting sacked than any other staff may earn if they were to loose their jobs.

This marks the sixth time in Mourinho’s career that he has been sacked, and each instance has come with substantial compensation payments. Mourinho’s journey in coaching began at Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles.

However, a strained relationship with owner Roman Abramovich led to a £18 million payout upon his departure.

After achieving a treble with Inter Milan, Mourinho moved to Real Madrid, experiencing success initially before being sacked by Florentino Perez, costing the club £17 million.

His second stint at Chelsea saw him win the Premier League in 2014/15, but he was sacked again, receiving a payout of £12.5 million, bringing his total compensation from Chelsea to £30.5 million.

Subsequent managerial stints at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur ended with compensation payments of £17 million and £18 million, respectively.

With his Roma contract set to conclude at the end of the season, Mourinho will receive around £3 million in compensation.

Over the course of his career, Mourinho has earned over £85 million in compensation from various clubs.
