"How I almost lost my life amid slow career growth" – Crayon

Budding Afrobeats artiste, Charles Chibueze Chukwu, best known as Crayon, has told the tales of how he struggles to become a music star.

The singer, who was signed to Mavin in 2019, said that he battled depression in 2020 after dropping seven songs and none became a hit.

He made this revelation during a recent episode of Drip Check.

According to the Ngozi crooner, he recalled putting out a club banger titled Gbona, sadly it did not gain any traction because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Crayon also recalled how he had a breakdown in 2022, and almost lost his life, adding that it’s a miracle he is still standing today.

He said; “2020 was one of my darkest years in the game. I dropped about seven songs and no one gained traction. I remember when I dropped ‘Gbona,’ it was about to take off then COVID-19 struck and everything shut down. And ‘Gbona’ was a club banger. I dropped the video, but it still didn’t pick up. I was dropping songs biweekly.

“I had a breakdown in early 2022. People don’t come back from that sh*t, me standing right here now is a miracle. I almost lost my life”.
