Young Nigerian artist, Charles Chibueze Chukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has revealed his humble beginning and his journey to stardom.

The Mavin Records signee narrated the challenges he had to face as the first child of his family and how signing a deal with Mavin Records changed his life around.

According to him, the Records deal enabled him to uplift his family as he stopped his mum from selling fruits in Iyana Oba, Lagos.

The Overloading crooner also revealed that his mother was very supportive and even gave him money for studio sessions.

He revealed all these during an interview with Vanguard.

Speaking further, Crayon said it was not always his dream to go into music, but his father somewhat sparked the interest.

According to Crayon, his dad used to sell records and MC events, and he would often take some of the CDs, listen to them and try to mimic artistes.

He said that when he reached 12 to 13 years of age, he wanted to venture into music, so he joined the choir in church, but due to stage fright, he quit.
