Four people have been declared dead after allegedly using herbal treatment for HIV.

The programme officer, Muhammad Ibrahim, emphasized the need for the government and stakeholders to regulate and check the circulation of alternative HIV treatments in Gombe.

He expressed concern about the increased patronage of herbal remedies, leading to deaths as a result of wrong medication.

The Gombe health commissioner emphasized that there is no scientific proof that herbs can cure HIV and advised against using herbal medicines, stating that they can damage vital organs.
