Grammy Nominated DJ sued for masturbating in front of Assistant

Renowned British DJ and Grammy nominee Paul Oakenfold has been hit with a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by his former personal assistant, who accuses him of repeatedly masturbating in front of her during her employment.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, June 2, and obtained by Deadline, alleges that Oakenfold exposed and touched himself inappropriately in front of the then-23-year-old assistant, identified as Jane Roe.

She is suing Oakenfold, her former employer New Frequency Management, Paul Stepanek Management, and unnamed defendants for damages exceeding $25,000, citing sexual harassment and workplace violations.

According to the court filing, Roe was hired by New Frequency in October 2022 to work as a personal assistant to Oakenfold, known for his collaborations with top artists such as Britney Spears, U2, and the Rolling Stones. The lawsuit claims that on her very first day, Oakenfold cornered Roe and intentionally masturbated in her presence while they were alone in his residence.

The alleged incidents persisted, with Oakenfold reportedly masturbating in front of Roe on four separate occasions, each time increasing in duration and intensity, according to the lawsuit. On November 18, 2022, Oakenfold is accused of touching himself four times throughout the day, even sitting in the passenger seat of Roe’s car and engaging in the act inches away from her while she drove him home from the post office.

Roe claims that she was frozen in fear and shock due to Oakenfold’s alleged indecent exposure. She reported the incidents to Frequency Management CEO Paul Stepanek on November 29, 2022. Two days later, she was presented with a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that she was compelled to sign in order to continue her employment with Frequency Management.

Upon returning to work, Roe alleges that she was reassigned to other clients, but her working hours were significantly reduced. The lawsuit states that on March 13, 2023, she was informed of her termination from the company, citing a lack of available work. However, Roe contends that she was fired in retaliation for reporting Oakenfold’s behavior.

“The termination of Plaintiff was not based on any legitimate grounds but rather as a response to Plaintiff’s complaints regarding the aforementioned sexual harassment, in violation of the law,” the lawsuit asserts.
