Governor Yusuf gives order; Ex-monarchs to vacate Palace in 48 Hours

As ordered by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, former emirs have been given 48 hours to leave their palaces.

They were told to give the properties of the Emirate Council to the Commissioner of Local Government, who is also the State Deputy Governor.

Kano State’s Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf signed the Kano Emirates Bill 2024 into law. This gets rid of the 2019 Emirate Councils Law, which changed the past of the state that goes back over a thousand years.

When the governor signed the bill, he said that the 2019 law was no longer in effect.

Speaker of the State Assembly Ismaila Falgore, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and other people were there to sign.

The bill was signed into law by the State Assembly, which was one of its basic duties.
