Gov Ayade: Stay united, PDP urges members in Cross River

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to the defection of Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ayade declared his defection on Thursday after a meeting with six APC governors at the office of the Governor in Calabar, Cross River State.

The Governor centered his decision on the requirement to align Cross River with the government at the centre so as to increase the wealth of the state.

Responding, the PDP through a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, wished Ayade well in his future endeavours.

PDP, however, appealed to its members in the state to make sure that all party structure in the state stays intact.

The statement read, “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) notes the decamping of the Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.

“Our party calls on all critical stakeholders and teeming members of our party in Cross River to immediately pull together and ensure that all structure of our party in the state remains intact.

“The PDP wishes Governor Ayade well in his new political sojourn as well as in his future endeavours.”
