“Fubara is a Mistake that will be corrected” — Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has publicly admitted to making an error in his choice of endorsing Siminalayi Fubara for the gubernatorial succession in Rivers State.
Speaking at an event in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday, May 11, Wike expressed regret over his support for Sim Fubara as his successor.
Addressing the gathering, Wike acknowledged his fallibility as a human being and conceded to the mistake in his judgment. He sought forgiveness from the people of Rivers State while assuring them that he would rectify the error at the appropriate time.
“In life, when you have made a mistake, you admit it. I have made a mistake, I own up to it, and I seek forgiveness from God and from all of you. However, I will correct it at the right time,” Wike stated, emphasizing the inevitability of human error.
Wike’s remarks come in the wake of recent comments attributed to Governor Fubara, thanking Wike for his support but asserting that he would not idolize him. Responding directly to Fubara’s statement, Wike clarified that he never expected anyone to worship him, asserting that such reverence is reserved for God alone.
Nevertheless, Wike stressed the importance of gratitude in politics, urging politicians to appreciate those who have supported them in their endeavors. He emphasized the role of divine intervention through people and underscored the significance of acknowledging assistance received.
