Former South African footballer, Mark Batchelor shot dead outside his home
Former South African footballer and Kaizer Chiefs striker, Mark Batchelor has been assassinated outside his home in Johannesburg. The fatal incident took place outside his home on Monday, July 15th, 2019.
The South African police through their spokesperson, Col Lungelo Dlamini, confirmed the incident. He said two men on a motorcycle shot Batchelor, “before he could drive into his premises at Olivedale after 6pm”.
“Police are investigating a murder case after a former soccer player, Mark Bachelor was attacked by two men driving a motorbike in Olivedale outside his house. He was shot several times and died inside his vehicle. The suspects then drove away without taking anything. The motive for the attack is still unknown. No one has been arrested.

Pictures of the scene show at least seven bullet holes in the car’s window, and at least one other bullet hole in the driver’s door panel.
Mark Batchelor also played for Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows.
