Fake Bank Staff: Woman Shares Distressing Account of Mother Falling Victim to Bank Scam

A woman has taken to her social media platform to share a distressing account of how her mother became a victim of a scam artist posing as a bank employee at a prominent Nigerian bank.

In her post, the woman described how her mother contacted her immediately after the incident, conveying a sense of devastation and vulnerability.

As the eldest child, she felt overwhelmed with guilt for not being able to provide immediate assistance to her mother during this crisis.

The scam artist had reportedly deceived the woman’s mother by posing as a bank employee and manipulating her into divulging sensitive personal information.

The details of how the scam unfolded and the specific nature of the scam were not disclosed in the social media post.

Her statement “Four days ago, I received news that turned my entire world upside down. My mum called me, crying uncontrollably and talking gibberish.”

“That in itself was so strange because my mum rarely cries. When I managed to calm her down a bit, everything stolen from her by the men in the pictures below. My mummy was bawling like a baby and nothing I was saying was getting through to her.”

“She was talking incoherently and in that moment I was truly afraid that she was going to go bonkers. I tried encouraging her, telling her that money was transient and could always be made back.” 

“I’m not sure I got through to her at all. I ended the call and began to rack my brain thoroughly, uppermost in my mind.”

“What can I do to fix this? I felt responsible. I am a first child, I should be able to fix this, to wipe these tears off my mother’s face. But there was nothing I could do for her. I, a recent graduate, trying to find my feet in the world, where would I get millions to replace what she’d lost?”

“I did the only thing that makes sense to me in chaos, I turned to Abba. I opened my mouth and nothing came out tears just kept rolling down my face, where would we begin?”

“But then, I did something I learnt through tribulations. I gave thanks to the giver of all things. I sincerely gave thanks through the tears and pain. God gave, and he can give again.”

“And I prayed for peace and consolation for my mum. This was the most important thing at the moment. And God did give her peace and calm in the eye of the storm. My mom who was talking incoherently for straight two days is calm now and we’re trusting God for the best.”

“I have a plea though. I know it’s a long shot and that the pictures aren’t very clear, but we’re trying to find these men. Even if we can’t recover what they stole, they need to pay for their crimes. Someone you know might know them so please.”

“Ps: if you’re dating a fraudster, are friends with a fraudster, defend a fraudster, or make excuses for them; I hope you know that this is the pain and desolation that they wreck on lives and entire families.”

“It’s Access bank please. She uses both banks and I mixed it up. It was an honest mistake that I didn’t notice on time.”
