FA Cup Final: “Based on what I’ve seen" -- Rio Ferdinand

Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has shared his bleak outlook for this weekend’s FA Cup final between his former club and Manchester City. Ferdinand expressed his lack of confidence in United’s chances of overcoming their city rivals.

Reflecting on the Red Devils’ difficult season, which saw them finish in eighth place—their worst ever finish in the Premier League era—Ferdinand emphasized the daunting challenge they face against City, who secured their fourth consecutive Premier League title on the season’s final day.

Previewing the upcoming FA Cup final on the FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand stated,

“Based on what I’ve seen this season from both sides, Manchester City and Manchester United, I’ve got no confidence, I have to say. It’s the first time I’m going to a cup final with Man United and thinking that we have a very, very, very, very small chance of winning this game.”

He further highlighted the significant gap between the two teams, saying,

“The gap between Man United and City now is at its biggest that it has ever been. The fall off that we’ve had compared to them right now is huge so how can I, in my right mind, go into this game with any sort of confidence?”

Ferdinand believes it will require an extraordinary effort for United to stop the Premier League champions from doing the double with the FA Cup in the highly anticipated final.
