Former Nigerian boxer, Jerry Okorodudu, is suffering from a partial stroke and is reportedly in dire need of financial aid.

As reported by The Punch, the former national boxing coach, who competed in the men’s middleweight event at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, confirmed that he had been living with the ailment for over two months.

He had surgery last year and was stuck at the hospital after he couldn’t foot his medical bills, before the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, and other ex-boxers came to his aid financially.

Okorodudu confirmed his ailment to The Punch, stating that he was financially incapable of treating himself.

“I have been sick for over a month as we speak and I need urgent financial help to be able to get the best treatment. I had a partial stroke, which has affected my right hand and leg, even up to my neck,” he said.

“I can’t walk, so, I have not been doing anything for over one month. I’m also finding it difficult to talk well.”

Okorodudu said he had resorted to traditional treatment due to a lack of funds to seek medical help.

“I have not been able to go to the hospital. I just take traditional medication and I am hoping for the best,” the ex-national champion added.
