Senator Ngwu commends Enugu govt, security forces
During the Senate plenary on Wednesday, Senator Osita Ngwu, the Senate Minority Whip representing Enugu West Senatorial district, extended appreciation to the security personnel and the Enugu State government, headed by Dr. Peter Mbah, for their robust efforts in tackling the insecurity challenges, particularly in Uzo Uwani LGA.
Senator Ngwu commended Governor Mbah and the security operatives for their proactive measures, including visiting the communities affected by recent bandit attacks and providing much-needed relief materials.
He emphasized the unity and determination exhibited by the state government and security forces to confront and eradicate the scourge of insecurity in the region.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Senator Ngwu referenced his co-sponsorship of a motion in the Senate calling for immediate action to halt the senseless killings of law-abiding citizens in Adani and Nimbo communities by bandits.
The Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, subsequently resolved to task security heads with investigating, arresting, and prosecuting the perpetrators responsible for the attacks.
Additionally, Senate committees were directed to ensure compliance and work towards implementing lasting solutions.
Senator Ngwu also underscored the importance of providing relief to the affected communities, urging NEMA and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to swiftly intervene.
The recent attacks in Adani and Nimbo communities serve as grim reminders of the persistent security challenges faced by residents of Uzo Uwani LGA.
Senator Ngwu’s acknowledgement of the collaborative efforts between the government and security forces reflects the collective resolve needed to combat insecurity and restore peace and stability to the region.
