Edo spare parts market destroyed by fire

Over one hundred shops in Uwelu motor spare parts market in Benin City the Edo State capital have been destroyed by fire in an incident which occurred on Monday.

The Chairman of the Motor Spare Parts Association, Uwelu branch, Ibie Osaretin, who confirmed the incident said they got the fire alert around 11:00 pm on Monday, but were unable to salvage the situation early enough to recover goods from the shops.

He, therefore, appealed to the government and relevant bodies to come to the aid of the traders so that they can recover their loss and return to business.

Also speaking on the matter, the Vice-Chairman of the Egor Local Government Area where the market is situated assured the traders that the government would intervene in their predicament.
