Document show there is more to Edo Deputy-Governor story
Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who was recently denied access to his office at the Government House in Benin, has now been revealed to have been informed of his office relocation in advance.
Fresh details have emerged regarding this ongoing political tussle between Governor Obaseki and his deputy.
Last Monday, Shaibu was met with a locked gate leading to his office, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his office relocation.
The deputy governor expressed his lack of awareness regarding the move, stating that he had not received an official letter from the governor’s office regarding the change.
However, a letter dated September 15, 2023, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, has now come to light.
This letter, addressed to the Office of the Deputy Governor, informed Shaibu of the relocation of his office accommodation to No. 7, Dennis Osadebe Avenue, GRA, Benin City.
In the letter, the SSG stated,
“I write to inform you that His Excellency, the Governor has approved the relocation of your office accommodation to No. 7, Dennis Osadebe Avenue, GRA, Benin City. You are therefore requested to ensure your compliance in line with Mr. Governor’s approval, please.”
This revelation adds a new dimension to the ongoing power struggle between Governor Obaseki and Deputy Governor Shaibu.
While speculations of plans to impeach Shaibu have circulated, the Edo State Assembly has officially denied any such intentions.
