Debut delight: Zirkzee rescues all 3-points for Manchester United

You can’t wish for anything better than scoring your first goal for your new club on your debut, and for summer signing Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United cannot have a better narrative than that.

The premier league opener versus Fulham, started to take a frustrating route for Manchester United on a night they had everything to prove and fight for on return to Old Trafford.

Their visitors, the Cottagers from as far as West London, came to the famous ground with other ideas; steal glory from Old Trafford like they had done the previous season. And very nearly, they could have if not for the intervention of substitute Joshua Zirkzee.

The summer signing whose debut had been saved for the premier league season opener, proved worth the wait as the Dutchman salvaged all 3-points to calm whatever narratives that may have erupted had United dropped points.

Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag looks to have been the one with a lot to thank for as Joshua Zirkzee’s winner keeps his experiment with the lineup, away from serious discussion.

The Dutch manager fronted Skipper, Bruno Fernandes as a no. 9 while leaving Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho on the bench.

If irony was a person, it surely had the last laugh as both players came on to win the game for Manchester United in the 87th minute.

It was a win for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag but a bigger win for the premier league debutant, Joshua Zirkzee who had the delight of scoring on his debut.
