Davido’s dad donates N500m to combat Coronavirus

Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music superstar, Davido, has donated the sum of N500m to the federal government in support of the country’s fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.

 

The popular singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, took to his Twitter page on Tuesday to announce the gestures.

The Adeleke donation comes days after Chioma Avril, his fiancee, had tested positive for COVID-19.

Davido said, aside from his father’s donation, 6,640 Bags of rice would be shared out to all residents of Osun state in a giveaway which would cut across parties and religious lines.

“The Adeleke dynasty will this week commence the distribution of N250million worth of Rice across the Three Hundred and Thirty-Two Wards in Osun state” the statement read.

“This is in spite of the N500miilion donation by the Billionaire Deji Adeleke to contain the deadly Coronavirus.

“In a release signed by chief (Dr) Mrs. Dupe Adeleke Saani, the distribution of twenty bags of fifty kilograms of rice and three bags of beans per ward will be done across all parties and religious lines.

“According to her, the rice distribution is in furtherance of the commitment of the Adeleke dynasty to making life comfortable for all and sundry during this lockdown period.

“The release further enjoined the people of Osun state to comply with the Sit-at-home order and observe the WHO protocol of social distancing, cleanliness and general hygiene.

“Chief ( Dr) Dupe Adeleke Sanni promised that the Adeleke family will continue to support the people of the state come rain and shine.”
