Davido and Wizkid spark tension in London nightclub

The feud between Wizkid and Davido is one beef that adds new layers each time its talked about. So much so that fans are left to wonder if it is just publicity or outright envy between the two celebrities.

The long-standing tension between two Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats stars, dates back over a decade and has been characterized by occasional flare-ups and reconciliations. The root of their feud lies in fan rivalry, which often escalates their interactions, despite attempts at peace.

One of the earliest sparks in their conflict was in 2014, when Wizkid posted on social media after his New York show, which many interpreted as a dig at Davido’s recent concert. Wizkid denied it, but Davido insisted the post was aimed at him.

Their public exchanges became more heated in 2017 when Wizkid allegedly referred to Davido’s singing voice as a “frog voice,” which led to a back-and-forth on social media, further fueled by their respective fan bases.

In 2018, their camps reportedly clashed physically, prompting the two stars to temporarily put their differences aside and perform at each other’s concerts.

However, despite moments of reconciliation—such as Davido congratulating Wizkid on his O2 Arena show in 2019, and Wizkid delaying his album release to show solidarity when Davido lost his son in 2022—their rivalry has persisted in various forms.
