David Lyon ends PDP’s stay in Bayelsa, wins gubernatorial election

Mr David Lyon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Bayelsa has ended PDP’s long-standing reign in the state.
The ‘obscure’ politician won the November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State with the support of the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Faraday Orunmuwese, announced this on Monday morning.
The APC candidate polled a total of 352,552 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Duoye Diri, who scored 143,172 votes.
With this victory, APC is in a celebratory mood as they also won the Kogi Gubernatorial election which took place the same day.
