Dalung supports nationwide protest against Tinubu

Solomon Dalung, Nigeria’s former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, has accused President Bola Tinubu and his “locust cabal” of prioritizing Nigeria’s wealth over the welfare of its citizens. Dalung’s criticism comes as he defends the proposed nationwide protest against bad governance, scheduled to demand accountability from the country’s leaders.

Dalung also criticized presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who claimed that the planned nationwide protest is intended to destabilize the country.

According to DailyPost, Dalung condemned Onanuga’s remarks as “uncharitable” and “wicked,” asserting that the Nigerian citizens demanding good governance, accountability, and justice have more rights to the nation than the current power holders.

“The protests are to demand accountability from those who are destroying our common heritage,” Dalung stated. He emphasized that Nigerians have no other place to call home, unlike some leaders who have ties to other countries.

Dalung dismissed Onanuga’s claims that the protests would destabilize Nigeria, asserting that such fears are merely an excuse to avoid governmental responsibility. He urged President Tinubu and his associates to address the protesters’ demands rather than employing divide-and-rule tactics, which he labeled as outdated.

“All we are demanding is good governance, which is not too much,” Dalung concluded, underscoring the legitimacy and necessity of the planned protests.

Dalung’s comments have intensified the ongoing debate over governance and accountability in Nigeria, highlighting the growing public dissatisfaction with the current administration.
