Court finds R&B Singer R. Kelly guilty of child pornography and abuse

R.Kelly, the embattled US musician, was convicted guilty of child pornography and abuse in Chicago on Wednesday.

TopNaija reports that the musician was found guilty of coercing three kids into illegal sexual demeanor and making three child sexual assault films.

He also served a 30-year term after prosecutors established that he managed a decade-long sex trafficking operation via his music company.

The latest trial in Chicago centered on the sex recordings that were part of a 2008 Illinois child pornography prosecution in which Kelly was acquitted because the witness refused to testify.

Kelly was arrested by federal officials in Chicago in 2019 and brought to New York in June 2021.

The 55-year-old artist was accused of videotaping himself while having sex with underage females.

He was convicted on six of the thirteen counts against him, including three counts of child pornography and three counts of child enticement.

Kelly has been accused of sexually abusing young people and adolescents during the 1990s.

However, the singer’s assault accusations gained widespread attention with the 2019 Lifetime documentary ‘Surviving R Kelly,’ which investigated claims that an entourage of fans sheltered Kelly and repressed his victims for decades.
