The students of College of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lagos will henceforth be having four hours of power supply, TOPNAIJA.NG can confirm.

A.O. Adeyemo, principal assistant secretary of the College of Medicine, made this known in a notice to students on Friday.

“This is to inform all the students of the College of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy that with effect from 1st December 2018, power supply in the hostel will until further notice be rationed as follows,” the notice seen by TopNaija.ng read.

  • Morning: 7am to 8am- 1hr
  • Evening: 7pm to 10pm- 2hrs

“The Management therefore implores all students for understanding.”

Students of the university could not resume for the 2018/2019 first semester on November 18 as scheduled because of a strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The UNILAG chapter of the union confirmed their compliance with the strike action on November 7.

“We have achieved 100 per cent compliance with the directive handed to us by the union’s executives,” Dele Ashiru, chairman, ASUU UNILAG chapter, said.

“Government’s appeal is coming late because we gave them more than six months’ notice prior to our action.

“We even addressed the press on this, begging the government to see reasons with us, but it refused.

“Now, we have reached a point of `no return’ until government meets our demands substantially.”
