Clubs Won’t Be Having A Laugh At Chelsea Now — Joe Cole Brags
A smile at last for the Chelsea fans, and for former Chelsea player, Joe Cole; a sign of things to come as he hopes the victory against Dortmund will inspire clubs to start seeing the Blues as a worthy threat soon.
The former Chelsea player, Joe Cole has warned the club’s rivals that they will not want to face the Blues in the upcoming weeks. He also praised Kai Havertz, describing him as an “outstanding” player after Chelsea’s Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Chelsea defeated the German side 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, securing their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s top club competition, with Havertz scoring the winner from the penalty spot. The victory marked the team’s second win in two matches under the guidance of Graham Potter.
Chelsea’s next four games will be against Leicester City, Everton, Aston Villa, and Liverpool as they aim to climb the table.
Speaking on BT Sport after Chelsea’s triumph over Dortmund, Joe Cole said:
“Enjoy it, enjoy it! Little patterns of play were starting to work. Kai Havertz coming into the game, he was absolutely outstanding tonight. Forget what it took to retake that penalty. You won’t want to be playing Chelsea in the next couple of weeks.”
The team’s form has been somewhat inconsistent since Potter’s arrival, with the new manager’s input on the team being placed under criticisms by the Chelsea fans recently.
Havertz’s performance against Dortmund was particularly impressive, with the German international showcasing his technical ability and vision. The forward has struggled to make an impact since joining Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen, but his goal now might be the confidence booster in what looks to be a crucial stage of the season.
With Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures against tough oppositions, the team will need to maintain their solid defensive record and continue their attacking momentum if they hope to climb the table and challenge for a top-four finish which rather sounds ridiculous.
