Clubs facing Champions League elimination after matchday-3

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League is nearing the knockout stages, and several top European teams are on the brink of elimination.

Following the matchday 3 results, some big clubs are in dangerous territory as they fight for survival. Let’s take a look at the high-profile teams in jeopardy:

Bayern Munich:

The Bavarian giants are struggling in the league phase, sitting precariously with just 3 points from three matches. After their 4-1 defeat to Barcelona, Bayern Munich’s chances of progressing are now slim. Although they managed to score 10 goals, their defensive vulnerabilities have left them with two losses already.

Atletico Madrid:

Diego Simeone’s side, typically resilient in Europe, have had a disastrous campaign so far. With only 3 points, and a loss to Lille on matchday 3, they find themselves ranked 27th. Atletico will need a strong finish in their last five games to avoid a shocking early exit.

AC Milan:

Despite a 3-1 win over Club Brugge, Milan’s form has been inconsistent. They are currently in 25th position with 3 points. The Italian side will have to fight tooth and nail to secure a top-24 spot and at least make it into the play-offs.

PSV Eindhoven:

PSV have only managed 2 points from three matches, sitting 28th in the table. With little room for error, they must quickly turn their fortunes around to avoid an early exit.

As matchday 4 approaches, these clubs will need to perform at their highest levels if they are to avoid elimination and keep their Champions League hopes alive
