“Church seduction” — Destiny Etiko dragged online by fans
Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko finds herself at the center of a polarizing online attack and debate among viewers following a video she shared, showcasing her dance moves during a church event.
The actress attended the Odeshi Programme, organized by the Zion Prayer Ministry Outreach, documenting her two-day presence at the event. However, it was her enthusiastic dance during the program’s final day on Sunday that stirred contrasting reactions from her audience.
In the shared video, Destiny Etiko is seen dancing joyfully, yet this drew criticism from some of her followers who accused her of dancing in a manner they deemed seductive and inappropriate for a church setting.
Comments on her post reflected these sentiments. “Stop dancing seductively in church,” admonished one commenter, while another expressed, “You carry temptation go church. Nawaooo.”
Furthermore, some viewers went as far as suggesting that her dance was a distraction to a young man situated behind her.
Nevertheless, amidst the criticisms, a considerable number of defenders rallied behind the actress, asserting that her dance was appropriate and suggesting a potential double standard. They contended that if the dancer were of a different body type, particularly a slim woman, the reaction might have been different and less critical.
