A pastor of Christ Embassy Ministries in Harare, Zimbabwe has been arrested by the police for holding a Sunday service with members who have not taken COVID-19 vaccines.

The unnamed Christ Embassy pastor was reportedly fined $2,000.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said the pastor from Glen View high-density residential area was fined $2 000.

The Herald reports that the nation’s cabinet approved last Wednesday that churches could resume service but with congregation that have already been vaccinated.

The cabinet also specified that people must observe the COVID-19 protocols to the letter, bu it did not give specified number of people that should be in church.

Some other members of the church are also said to be helping police with investigation.
