Chelsea Player held at Gunpoint by Police
In a case of mistaken identity, Chelsea player on loan to Milan, Tiemoue Bakayoko was held by police at gunpoint in a trending footage online.
It is an incident that has drawn a lot of interests as the Frenchman was held up by officers and thoroughly searched in the middle of the street.
The video showed cars being stopped with the Chelsea midfielder spotted putting on a green shirt and a black hat while being pressed against a police car.
It is unclear if the incident was promoted by racism but the incident showed one of the officers reveal to his colleague the identity of the Frenchman as a footballer and not the intended suspect.
The footage stopped filming the minute the Chelsea player was let go, provoking uproar on the internet.
The midfielder spent the full season of the 2021/22 season with AC Milan, appearing 14 times as the Serie A side won its first title in 11 years.
There was no clause included to purchase the player on a permanent basis from Chelsea but reports state the player would be headed to Marseille on a 4 year deal.
“So his humanity is only important to the police because he’s famous? What if he wasn’t Bakayoko?” some asked on the internet regarding the incident.
