Chelsea mauled by Wolves at Stamford Bridge

What’s to become of Chelsea’s season after a train wreck to the 2023/24 campaign?

If there had been doubts that Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Chelsea was going from bad to worse after every game this season, then their defeat to Wolves at Stamford Bridge should clear whatever optimism anyone has towards the Blues turning the tides for the better.

Following the 4-1 humiliation at Anfield in mid-week, Chelsea returned for yet another humbling to Wolves despite taking an initial lead against the Midlands side.

A couple of defensive blunders dictated the Blues’ defence to leave Wolves striker, Matheus Cunha capitalizing on the backline to net a hat trick to steal the tie away from Chelsea.

Cunha inspired Wolverhampton’s comeback starting with the equalizer, a spot kick to triple the lead after netting his second following an Axel Disasi’s misfortune that was an own goal.

Lead defender for the Blues, Thiago Silva tried to inspire a comeback for Chelsea via a  86th minute goal but it was nothing but a consolation as Wolverhampton Wanderers ran out 4-2 winners at the famous West London turf of Stamford Bridge.

The tough times don’t look like going any time soon, with Chelsea now sitting 11th in the premier league table, with Wolves  one point above them.
