Chelsea and Alexander Isak: The story so far

Chelsea are not planning to pursue a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer, as stated by multiple sources.

Despite earlier speculation that the Blues had enquired about the Sweden international, the club is aware that any potential deal would command an exorbitant fee and have decided against making a formal approach during this transfer window.

While Chelsea have shown interest in Alexander Isak in the past, the financial implications of such a move are prohibitive. A transfer would likely exceed the £115 million the club spent on Moises Caicedo last summer, making it unfeasible at this time.

Interest in other targets remains, with Chelsea still monitoring Samu Omorodion. The highly-rated 20-year-old striker from Atletico Madrid is on the club’s radar, but securing his services this summer appears challenging as Atletico Madrid are unwilling to let him leave.

The club’s interest in Jhon Duran has waned, though it could be revisited later in the window if other striker targets prove unattainable. Meanwhile, Chelsea are close to finalizing deals for young talents Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman, with agreements in place for £5 million and £19 million, respectively, with Barcelona and Aston Villa.

Additionally, Chelsea are nearing the completion of a transfer for Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino. Club officials are currently in Argentina to finalize the deal for the 19-year-old, expected to cost just under £20 million.

The search for a winger continues after Chelsea withdrew from the race to sign Michael Olise. Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao was considered, but interest has cooled due to his high wage demands.

On the outgoing front, Ipswich Town are preparing an offer for Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson. The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Portman Road last season, playing a pivotal role in the Tractor Boys’ promotion to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.
