Erik ten Hag told to discipline Casemiro ahead of Brighton game

Former Manchester United player, Dwight Yorke has criticized Erik ten Hag’s utilization of Brazilian midfielder and former Real Madrid star, Casemiro in the Man United midfield.

According to Dwight Yorke, the midfielder is playing too much as an attacking player that it’s resulted in the Manchester United midfield being vulnerable to attacks and counter press by opposition teams.

The former Manchester United ace, asserts that Casemiro has gotten too carried away with getting into the attacking spaces that he has left behind his primary role as a number 6.

Going into the weekend fixtures versus Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford, Yorke urges for more discipline on Casemiro towards his primary duties as he is well known as a defensive cover in midfield and less for goal scoring.

“Casemiro had a great debut season where he scored some crucial games and I think he is getting a bit carried away by venturing forward too much,” Yorke stated.

“He’s supposed to be the anchor in midfield, but I keep seeing him in advanced positions. He’s ahead of the play most of the time, and it is difficult for him to make those runs back.

“Casemiro needs to relax and stop trying to play in the final third. He was never known as a goal scorer at Madrid, and I think the manager needs to tell him to stay in the number six position.

“He doesn’t have the energy to track back so often, and that is why you are seeing United being overwhelmed in the middle of the park.

“I’d say more discipline is needed as we all know how good he is when he plays in his natural position.”

With the signing of Moroccan midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina, competition or a partnership is set to follow for the former Real Madrid player in the Manchester United midfield.
