CAN Endorses Sanwo-Olu For Second Term

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos State Chapter has officially endorsed the candidacy of the current Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for a second term.

The announcement was made by the CAN Chairman, Lagos State, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, during a press briefing held at the Chapel of Light, Alausa, Lagos.

The event had the five blocks of CAN represented.

Bishop Adegbite emphasized that the Christian community in Lagos had demanded a Christian governor, and by divine providence and the listening ears of party leaders, the present governor emerged.

However, the current endorsement is based primarily on the Governor’s performance and nothing else. According to him, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s achievements in critical sectors of the economy of the state, including the recently completed multibillion naira Imota Rice Mill project, foreign direct investment coming through the Lekki Free Trade Zone, the recently completed first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, and the commencement of the second phase which is the Red Line, have been endearing.

Bishop Adegbite further stated that the repositioning of the health sector through the building of more health centres at the grassroots and the free health policy for children below 18 years and adults above 65 years of age not minding their ethnic background or religious affiliation are some of the reasons why the Christian Association of Nigeria in Lagos State has decided to endorse Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy for a second term. He noted that consistency is what the state needs at this critical time.
