Buhari plans to make kerosene needless
President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly implemented a new plan in a revised policy that will stop the use of kerosene in the country come 2030.
He announced this during a virtual meeting hosted by the US President, Joe Biden concerning Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate Change (MEF).
Buhari said it is part of Nigeria’s commitment to a safer and healthier global climate.
According to Channels Television, the President also listed the country’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to include an increase in the use of bus rapid transit as a means of transportation for the general public.
Additionally, he shared that there will be a 50 percent reduction in the fraction of crop residues burnt by 2030 and the implementation of forest programmes.
He revealed the motive of the NDC towards contributing to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, submitted to replace the interim contribution of May 27, 2021.
