Brighton players attacked for celebrating win on Manchester United

Brighton and Hove Albion football club has come under fire for celebrating their victory over Manchester United “like a cup final” after footage emerged of their dressing room celebrations.

The Seagulls secured a 1-0 victory over United on Thursday night with a penalty in the 98th minute after a VAR check found that Luke Shaw had handled the ball inside the penalty area.

Brighton’s celebrations were caught on camera and shared on social media, prompting criticism from some fans who felt the team had overreacted to the win.

Several took to Twitter to express their opinions, with one person asking, “Where’s the trophy, must be there somewhere.” Another said, “Great result but no need to celebrate like you’ve just won a cup final!”

Despite the backlash, Brighton player Alexis Mac Allister, who scored the winning penalty, expressed his joy at the victory in an interview with Sky Sports.

He said, “It’s easy to play in this team. The way we play is very nice, my team-mates are fantastic. It’s down to them as well. I’m really pleased to play with them and they help me to be a better player every day.”

Brighton’s win puts them in sixth place in the Premier League with 55 points, just four points behind Liverpool, who currently occupy fifth place.

The Seagulls have two games in hand, giving them a chance to secure a spot in next season’s Europa League. Brighton will next play against Everton on Monday, while United will face West Ham on Sunday night.
