BREAKING: Sultan of Sokoto announces commencement of Ramadan
The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Mohammed Abubakar, has announced the commencement of Ramadan fasting. According to a broadcast on NTA on Wednesday night, the crescent for the commencement of the Ramadan fasting has been sighted.
In his announcement, the Sultan urged Muslims across the country to commence fasting on Thursday, March 23, 2023. This marks the beginning of a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims all over the world.
Ramadan is a significant time in the Islamic calendar, and it is observed by millions of Muslims globally. During this period, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food and drink, as well as other physical pleasures.
Muslims use this time to engage in acts of charity, reflect on their faith, and spend time in prayer and meditation. The month-long period culminates in Eid al-Fitr, a festival that marks the end of the fast.
As Muslims across the country prepare for the start of Ramadan, the NSCIA has called on believers to observe the fast with reverence and respect, and to use this period to strengthen their faith and devotion to Allah. With the commencement of the fast, millions of Nigerian Muslims are set to embark on a period of reflection, prayer, and fasting, marking the start of a significant period in the Islamic calendar.
