Bandits murder two, abduct many in Niger

On the eve of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, armed bandits reportedly attacked Tashar Amale in the Rafi local government area of Niger State.

According to sources, the bandits shot at Muslim worshippers who were observing Jumaat prayers, causing panic among the congregation.

It is believed that at least two individuals lost their lives in the attack, and an unconfirmed number of travellers, including men, women, and children, were kidnapped and taken to an undisclosed location after their vehicle was set ablaze by the bandits.

The incident also disrupted the journey of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and his convoy, who were travelling to participate in the elections in Kontagora.

The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, confirmed the incident, stating that the government is still determining the actual number of abductees.
