Fuji musician, General Ayinla Kollington, turned 67 on Tuesday but rather than have an elaborate celebration, the musician had a quiet moment with members of his family and band.

According to him, he he was happy and as he was not used to having loud birthday celebration. When we reached out to him, Kollington said his birthday was not a big deal and that was why he didn’t mark it in a big way. He said, ‘’I didn’t celebrate my birthday in a loud way.

I just prayed with members of my family and band members. I feel happy and delighted that I’m celebrating myself, even though people also celebrated with me. COVID- 19 pandemic didn’t stop me from celebrating. The fact is that I have never celebrated my birthday in a big way. There’s no specific reason for that, I don’t like it and I don’t want it.”

Kollington Ayinla ranks alongside his friend and competitor Ayinde Barrister as the two most important artists to dominate Fuji music from its inception in the 1970s through to the 1990s by which time it had grown to become one of the most popular dance genres in Nigeria
