Aston Villa vs. Arsenal: A Chance for the Gunners
North London club, Arsenal perhaps may be facing one of the toughest challenge this season going away to Aston Villa in hopes of improving their points tally and strengthening their hold on top spot.
Aston Villa however have an eye for Europe this season, with their home record so far proving a nightmare for opposition teams venturing into Villa Park for points. A 100 percent record so far for the Villans to mark Villa Park a fortress no opponent can penetrate into.
Premier League Champions, Manchester City were the team’s latest victims in mid-week, with Unai Emery’s side taking Pep Guardiola’s men hostage for full on 90-mins just to release them after nicking a goal past goalie, Ederson to claim all 3-points.
Naturally, this gives Arsenal a breather on the premier league table, as their closest rival, Manchester City were sent crashing from a position of threat to 4th place. But like an hydra, take out one threat, 2 more rear its head to challenge for the spot.
Hence, the Gunners now have Aston Villa, Liverpool and perhaps a Manchester City side breathing on their neck should they fail to capitalize on the advantage that was the mid-week defeat of City. A win against Villa guarantees Arsenal the advantage as it separates both sides by an additional 3 points on the table to make it 7 points above Unai Emery’s team currently sitting 3rd.
However, a defeat means the Gunners will have only 1 point to separate them from Villa.
Aston Villa versus Arsenal in as much as it promises to be enticing, has a lot at stake for both teams as well as a lot to gain.
