Arne Slot confirms Arsenal's boogeyman to be out

Liverpool and Arne Slot face their best test yet as they go visiting the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

However, the Reds appear to be short on some key-men before the clash as Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed in his recent press briefing that Diogo Jota would be out against their North London hosts.

The Portugal international was unfortunate in his run-in with Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo in last weekend’s Premier League clash between the Reds and the Blues at Anfield, with Jota coming off just minutes to half-time whistle.

The Portuguese is well known for his goal-scoring record against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, with Diogo Jota recording 8-goals and 2-assists in those encounters. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers player’s absence will be a big miss for Liverpool who would find themselves tested by an angry Gunners eager to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth.

Arne Slot has also confirmed Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be another notable absentee in the clash, with the current situations of two other players; Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley still undetermined.

Mikel Arteta’s team will also be missing their own key stars as Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori are a doubt for the game. Defender William Saliba will also be on the sidelines for disciplinary measures.

For the Reds, the coast isn’t clear despite the absence of Jota, Alisson, Chiesa and Bradley as Trent Alexander-Arnold is nursing a fitness issue of his own since the international break.
