Arik Air refunds N326,000 to customer after report

Arik Air has refunded N326,000 to Abraham Oresanya, resolving a long-standing issue that has persisted since June.

The refund came through on Saturday, just a day after this Nigerian’s top youth platform, TopNaija published a detailed report on Oresanya’s plight.

The initial report by TopNaija highlighted how Oresanya’s money became trapped between Arik Air and First Bank. Despite Oresanya’s repeated attempts to resolve the issue, the airline directed him to consult his bank for a refund.

However, First Bank had already confirmed that the transaction was successful on their end, leaving Oresanya in a frustrating loop.

Expressing his relief and gratitude, Oresanya stated that, “Good evening. Arik Air has refunded me. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.”

TopNaija’s report, published on Friday, revealed that Oresanya had made a payment of N326,000 to Arik Air via Paystack in June. However, the airline failed to issue him a ticket, citing the expiration of the passenger name record (PNR) number. Arik Air advised him to request a cashback from his bank, which he promptly did.

At First Bank, Oresanya was informed that since the transaction was successful on their end, the refund could only be processed by the airline. Despite this, the airline continued to refer him back to the bank. The back-and-forth between the two entities continued until FIJ brought the issue to light.

Following the publication, the airline finally took action and processed the long-overdue refund, putting an end to Oresanya’s ordeal.
