ARCON unveils maiden edition of Journal Of Advertising And Marketing Communications

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) on Thursdsay launched its first edition of ARCON Journal of Advertising and Marketing Communications (AJAMC) at the the Advertising Industry Colloquium 2.0 TopNaija.ng reports.

The Advertising Industry Colloquium 2.0 themed Harnessing Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Advertising Education and Practice in Nigeria” took place on Thursday 27th, of June 2024 at the Sheba Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking during the unveiling, the Director General of ARCON said the ARCON Journal of Advertising and Marketing Communications (AJAMC) launch was a landmark development as it also serves as a bridge between the research works in the academia and the case studies from the industry.

In his words, “One of the things we want to continue to do as members of the council and as part of our efforts to impact the industry and to train all stakeholders in advertising at all times and bring more people into the same platform.

“ One of the greatest achievement over time from this journal is the fact that we even have foreign contributors, for the first edition, we have people from other countries who are pushing to be part of it, now we can imagine where this will go because from this edition, this journal will be cited as an authority when you are doing your research, thesis and when you need to to make presentations or share relevant document.”

Emphasizing the importance of the journal, Prof. Pate Umar, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State said “One of the most critical things is not just to start a journal ,but to continuously sustain the journal with credibility- this is where the problem is and I don’t want the journal to emerge with one edition and then dies.

“We want it to continue with quality articles so that it can be respected and it can also be accepted as a publication for universities as a journal that is highly recommended.”

Femi Adelusi, Former President of MIPAN, said “What I will say about a Journal like this is that the contributions from the academia and the stakeholders are some of the ways the industry can test the royalties around regulations.

“A journal like this can help test policies, decisions from the research standpoint particularly how the consumers react .

“So for me, this is the right direction in bridging the gap between the academic world and the field of practice, and this journal can also enable the student pick and deliberate on a subject that speaks through the thesis in the industry and advertisers and agencies will even be ready to finance.”

Prof. Rotimi Olatunji, Chairman of, the Planning Committee while highlighting the content of the Journal said “I am privileged to be the editor-in-chief of the journal and it’s going to be the most authoritative on the African continent. In this Journal, the editorial has professors from all over Nigeria, Africa, and Africans in the diaspora; it also cuts across all sectors of the economy, including professionals in the industry.”
