"Alec Baldwin keeps changing the story" -- Prosecutors hit

The legal battle of Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin following his manslaughter suit lingers on.

In a recent legal development, special prosecutors in New Mexico have asserted that actor Alec Baldwin’s conduct on the set of the movie “Rust” contributed to safety lapses that ultimately led to the tragic shooting incident resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021.

Prosecutors defended their case in a filing made on Friday following a motion filed by Baldwin’s legal team in March seeking to dismiss the indictment against the actor.

According to a copy of the response obtained by CNN, prosecutors contend that Baldwin has provided inconsistent accounts of the shooting incident and displayed a lack of emotional control on set, factors that they argue compromised safety measures.

The filing alleges that Baldwin’s behavior during his initial days on set included pressuring the crew and armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed to work at an accelerated pace, resulting in routine safety compromises.

Alec Baldwin purportedly exhibited frequent outbursts of anger and profanity directed at crew members, demonstrating a disregard for their well-being.

Baldwin, who pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge in January, was involved in the shooting incident that claimed Hutchins’ life and injured director Joel Souza during a scene rehearsal.

Gutierrez Reed, responsible for firearm safety on the set, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in March. Prosecutors argue that her inexperience and negligence, combined with Baldwin’s alleged disregard for safety concerns, culminated in the fatal outcome.

Furthermore, prosecutors criticize Baldwin’s post-incident public statements, accusing him of attempting to manipulate public opinion.

In response, Baldwin’s lawyers denounced the case against him, alleging prosecutorial misconduct and advocating for the dismissal of the indictment.

“This is an abuse of the system, and an abuse of an innocent person whose rights have been trampled to the extreme,” his lawyers said in the filing.
