After winning Wizkid’s award, Alikiba says he remains Starboy’s fan

Alikiba, top Tanzanian singer has said he’s always had love for Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun, who was erroneously awarded the Best African Act award at the MTV EMAs held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Wizkid was on Friday stripped of the award, which was handed over to Alikiba, the actual winner. A statement posted on the website of MTV EMAs noted that Alikiba was the rightful recipient of the award.

The East African star subsequently took to Instagram to urge fans stop attacking and insulting Wizkid on social media. Alikiba expressed disappointment at the silliness and stupidity while he also condemned the behaviour of critics of his Nigerian counterpart.

“I am not happy with what has been going on, on social media. I have a great appreciation for @wizkidayo as a fellow artist and as a fan.

“I am very disappointed and saddened by the insults and attacks directed at him, and I want to be very clear that I condemn this behaviour and I believe none of my true fans are part of this irrational silliness and stupidity as they know I have always had love for @wizkidayo.

“Drown out the noise from the haters bro, congratulations on your very successful year,” Alikiba wrote.
