Nollywood actor narrowly escapes death on Movie set

Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu narrowly escaped a fatal attack after gunmen raided the location where he was present in Bamenda, Cameroon, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals and injuries to ten others.

Madu had relocated to Bamenda on November 23, 2023, to participate in a film project. However, the tranquility of the evening on Saturday, November 25, was shattered when unidentified assailants stormed a drinking spot where Madu was socializing with a small group around 10 pm, unleashing a hail of gunfire.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday, November 27, by the film company that had extended the invitation to Sylvester Madu for the project. The company, DAMA Films, disclosed that the actor was in Bamenda to contribute to a movie advocating against substance abuse.

Detailing the harrowing sequence of events, the statement revealed that the day had progressed smoothly, with a snooker championship organized by BIG G VIP in which Madu was a guest.

However, chaos ensued around 10 pm when gunshots erupted outside the venue, prompting a panicked scramble among the attendees. Tragically, four individuals lost their lives, and more than ten sustained injuries in the ensuing chaos.

Fortunately, the police intervened swiftly, ensuring the safety of Sylvester Madu and dispersing the crowd. The authorities have initiated investigations into the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the attack and ensure the security of Madu as he prepares to return to his home country, Nigeria.
