"The best decision I made in my life" -- Andreas Pereira

Not many will be happy leaving a club like Manchester United, but former Red Devil’s star Andreas Pereira is not one of such persons. In fact, the midfielder cherished the moment he made the decision to depart Old Trafford.

In a recent interview, Andreas Pereira revealed that decision to depart the famous club was a bold one for him and one that paid off.

As a player who emerged from the club’s youth academy and experienced the grandeur of Old Trafford, it was no small feat to walk away. However, Pereira made a move that many wouldn’t dare to—a transfer to Fulham in 2022, a club with a different stature and ambitions.

Since joining Fulham, Pereira has found a new lease on life. The midfielder has thrived under Marco Silva’s management, becoming a key figure in the squad. His tally of eight goals in 82 appearances is a testament to his resurgence as a regular Premier League starter, something he struggled to achieve consistently at United.

Reflecting on his journey, Pereira has no regrets about his departure from United. In interviews, he has openly expressed that leaving was the best decision of his life. The opportunity to play regularly, enjoy his football, and even return to the Brazilian national team has validated his choice.

“I think it was the best decision I made in my life. The time I was there, I really enjoyed being at a fantastic club. But I don’t regret leaving.” Pereira said.

Pereira’s narrative isn’t just about finding playing time; it’s about rediscovering his passion for the game. He has gone from being a bit-part player at United to a standout performer at Fulham, proving that sometimes, stepping away from the spotlight can lead to the brightest moments of one’s career.

Pereira revealed that he didn’t consult Erik ten Hag, United’s new manager, upon his departure. Despite a prior working relationship with Ten Hag at PSV, Pereira was resolute in his decision to leave, driven by a desire to regain his confidence and love for the game.

“In my head I was thinking ‘I need to go, I need to feel confident and play’ and that’s what I did.” he added.
