Former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele granted N50 million bail in abuse of office case

Former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who is embattled with a 26-count charge alleging abuse of office and irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion respectively, saw a legal development on Friday.

Justice Rahmon Oshodi presiding over the case granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N50 million.

This decision allows Emefiele temporary freedom pending further legal proceedings.

However, to fulfill the bail conditions, Emefiele must provide two sureties in like sum.

The bail granted signifies a significant step in the legal process, offering Emefiele the opportunity to prepare his defense against the charges brought against him.
